Niles City Tax Rate will change from 1.5% to 2%
Department Responsibilities:The Niles City Tax Department/ Treasuruer's Department is headed by the Treasurer, which is a part time position, and the tax director. This department has the responsibility of receiving tax payments from the tax payers of the City of Niles, and enforce payment of taxes. They must also report all moneys received.
Besides overseeing all activities in this department, the main responsibility of the Treasurer is to invest unencumbered city funds.
The Clerk Treasurer works under the Treasurer, and carries the responsibilities of reconciling all bank accounts and validating all checks from payroll and accounts payable. The Clerk Treasurer is also involved in keeping checks and balances with the Auditor's Office on all receipts and dispersements.
YOU MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF THE FRONT PAGE OF YOUR FEDERAL 1040 FORM WHEN FILING CITY TAXES. DUE TO CITY FINANCES, WE WILL NOT BE MAKING COPIES OF YOUR W-2'S, 1040 FORM OR SCHEDULES.
