A fire truck will sometimes arrive at an incident first because it is the closest emergency unit to the scene and we are committed to getting help to your location as fast as possible. The City has two fire stations spaced strategically in the City. All firefighters are trained to provide basic emergency medical treatment. Since there are only several paramedic units in the City, firefighters respond to all calls involving life-threatening symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, chest pains, and severe bleeding. They initiate treatment to stabilize patients and provide information to the paramedics en route to the call so they will be aware of any additional advanced life support equipment that will be needed on the scene.

To become a firefighter in the City of Niles, you will have to meet certain educational requirements, need training to become a paramedic, you must be qualified to drive a vehicle in the state of Ohio, complete a background check, and pass a physical fitness assessment.  Please call the Fire Department for more information. (330)652-4321

Yes! We welcome the public into both of our fire stations. If a group is wanting to have a tour, we ask you to contact us in advance at (330) 652-4321, but if you happen to be walking by either station, just stop in and ask for a tour.

All Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services in Trumbull County are part of a Mutual Aid Plan that is designed to dispatch fire and medical units to an incident from multiple jurisdictions based on different factors. Large scale incidents that max out an individual fire department will receive additions responses from neighboring departments to handle the size of the incident rather it be fire or medical.

Mutual Aid can also be to dispatch the closest fire or medical company to an incident to help out. Fire Departments can utilize Mutual Aid to call for Specialized Equipment or Apparatus based on the incident.
